“Hi! How Are You?”

What do you say when someone asks you that question?

Noticing what you say and how you respond goes a long way towards building positive relationships.

I often hear sales reps or clients say:

“Fine.”

“Tired.”

“OK.”

“Getting by.”

I’m sure I can think of a few more, but you get the drift.

Do you respond that way too?

My dad says, “Excellent!”  “Great!” “Fantastic!”

I often say, “Good!” or “No complaints.”

Then I decided to step it up a notch and be like my dad. “I’m doing great!”

And here’s the thing- why not? Why not say you are doing great and let great things happen to you? 

What do you have to lose?

Let’s be real…

No one likes a complainer.  Quite frankly no one wants to hear that your tired. They can’t fix it for you so what’s the point?  And then they feel compelled to ask why and then they don’t have time to really hear it. And honestly, I don’t think they really care.

Further if they offer you a solution do you really take their advice?  Probably not…

In this fresh new year of potential change your response and watch how others pivot and react to a more upbeat disposition. If you shift to that mindset, you will also likely be able to shift your energy as well.
